What's new in Sitecore 9.3 - Horizon UI

This blog post is meant to inform you about one of Sitecore's newest features in the latest major release, Sitecore 9.3.

Horizon UI is brand new to Sitecore in the latest major release, Sitecore 9.3. You can access the feature by clicking on the new Horizon tile located on your dashboard, next to the Experience Editor (EE) tile. This does need to be installed as a separate module. The goal of Horizon UI is to eventually replace EE. It may be a while before that happens though due to Horizon UI not containing many feature EE has.

Features
  • Page Editor - Allows you to create and edit web pages. As you edit a page, you can see how it will appear on different devices.
  • Simulator Mode - Allows you to preview web pages as they will appear on different dates and on different devices.
  • Insights View - Allows you to see analytics for your web pages.
Page Editor

A - This is your content tree that contains all pages of your current site. B - This will show the page you have selected from your content tree. C - This contains details about the currently selected items along with workflow details.
Simulator Mode

You will find device buttons at the top to simulate what your page will look like on different devices. The bottom allows you to change the date and see how the page looks at that selected date
Insights View
At the top right, next to the eye icon, you will see a graph icon. Click that to see the Insights View. Page Insights displays a number of key performance indicators (KPIs) for the current page and the selected device type. You can choose one or multiple device types.

Even though Horizon UI has many features missing from what the module will have once it replaces EE, it is still great to see what the future of Sitecore looks like. As mentioned in my post about highlighting some features released with Sitecore 9.3, Horizon UI is a great way to prepare for the future of your solution. Especially with the introduction of Sitecore SaaS coming in summer of 2020.
